High Quality Protein

There are a number of ways to measure protein quality. Protein Digestibility Corrected Amino Acid Score (PDCAAS) assesses quality of a protein by matching the amino acid composition after digestion and absorption with human requirements. This is more superior to Protein Evaluation Ratio (PER), in which the amino acid content of the protein is matched with the requirements of a rat.

PDCAAS has been adopted by reputable agencies such as the United States Food and Drug Administration, the World Health Organization and the Food and Agriculture Organization. The maximum value of PDCAAS is 1.0, which means that after digestion and absorption, the amino acid composition of the protein matches that needed by the standard. Isolated soy protein (ISP) PDCAAS score is 1.0.
